Ellie

Ellie

I brought you home 13 years ago, and you changed my life for the better. You were loving and full of life and made every day joyful. There were so many names I had for you and so many songs that I sang to you. Every night, I pulled your blanket over you, kissed your head and told you I loved you. And you always smelled so sweet. Sometimes when I was sad, I would just hold you and put my nose into your neck and it would comfort me. You loved rolling in the grass, no matter the weather, and you always found a sunny spot. People always smiled and engaged with you when you were rolling because it seemed like such pure unadulterated joy. And from the time you were a puppy, you always entertained bystanders with your handstands when you peed. You could play ball endlessly, racing back and forth with a smile so gleeful that it always made me laugh. You don’t even know how many humans and creatures you touched in your short lifetime, my sweet girl. It is an endless number. My pain in losing you today is only tempered by the pure joy and gratitude that I have for the tremendous impact you have made in my life. Your many boyfriends over the years will never forget their sassy, alpha girl that just made life more exciting. Those diseases that ravaged your little body are no more. You are bouncing around with all the balls in the sky. And you will always remain a part of me. I love you sweet Ellie. Until we see each other again on the other side…
